Departures
Departures, the four-decade-old legacy luxury travel and lifestyle publication now under the ownership of American Express, sought to modernize and embrace a digital-first approach.
The rebrand, spearheaded by Giant Spoon, entailed the development of a new nameplate and a comprehensive brand system. This overhaul included a refreshed color palette, typography, and art direction. The nameplate, positioned at the heart of the rebrand, represents a notable departure from the brand’s previous identity. It elegantly incorporates calligraphic elements that pay homage to the brand’s heritage while embracing a modern, approachable digital aesthetic through its exclusive use of lowercase letters.
